Buderus has also developed its own electric ignition system and for many years has used the glowplug ignition in preference to piezzo or direct burner ignition.

The use of a glowplug eliminates ignition difficulties that may be caused by atmospheric moisture in the heat exchanger compartment. The high quality ceramic glowplug builds rapidly to an ignition heat of 1250°C when called into action and in the process vaporises any moisture to ensure a controlled, smooth, first time fire, every time. This improves boiler reliability and reduces potential delays in ignition which can result from condensation in the ignition system.
